1,088,286. Sheet forming. DISTILLERS CO. Ltd. July 28, 1964 [Aug. 22, 1963], No. 33251/63. Heading B5A. A container, having hinged body and lid portions, e.g. a cigarette box, is formed by vacuum or blow moulding a single sheet of thermoplastic material into adjacent moulds, and compressing the material located between said moulds to thin it and form the hinge. In the embodiment shown, a heated sheet 4 is pressed into two vacuum moulds, separated by a ridge 10, by a suitably shaped plunger 8, until the material between the ridge 10 and part 9 of the plunger has been compressed and thinned to the required degree. The sheet is then sucked from the plunger to completely form the body and lid portions of the container. |
