PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain the subject extract in high yield by hydrolyzing the root of Rumex japonicus with an acid followed by extraction with an organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, the root or the whole grass of Rumex japonicus is air-dried or hot air-dried and ground into dry powder. Second, 50-200 pts.wt. of water is added to 100 pts.wt. of the dry powder followed by addition of an acid solution (the acid concentration is adjusted to 0.1-30wt.%) and then agitation at 10-50 deg.C for 30-60min to carry out hydrolysis. Third, 200-100 pts.wt. of an organic solvent (pref. hexane) is added to the system followed by continuing further agitation for 30-60min. The system is then allowed to stand and the organic solvent layer separated is taken and the solvent is distilled off, thus obtaining the objective Rumex japonicus extract, which can be used either directly or in the form of an organic solvent (e.g. ethanol, glycerol) solution or powder or tablet through the addition of an excipient such as lactose. |
