BACKLIGHT UNIT AND DISPLAY APPARATUS HAVING THE SAME

The display apparatus comprises a display panel and a backlight unit. The display panel is bent along the first direction. The backlight unit provides the display panel with light. The backlight unit comprises a bottom chassis, a plurality of light emitting diodes and a plurality of lens units. The bottom chassis is bent along the first direction, and comprises a bottom part in which the first and second areas arranged in the first direction are defined. The light emitting diodes are arranged on the bottom part. The plurality of lens units correspond to the light emitting diodes in a one-to-one manner, and cover the light emitting diodes. The light emitting diodes comprise the first light emitting diode and the second light emitting diode. The first light emitting diode is arranged in the first area, and the second light emitting diode is arranged in the second area. The first lens distance is defined between the first light emitting diode and the first lens unit for covering the first light emitting diode among the lens units. The second lens distance is defined between the second light emitting diode and the second lens unit for covering the second light emitting diode among the lens units. The first lens distance is different from the second lens distance. The present invention is designed to reduce the number of light emitting diodes as well as manufacturing costs of a backlight unit and a display apparatus.
