Producing synthesis gas from biomass, comprises preconditioning the biomass by synthesis gas-fermentation or by hot coking process for further process, where the plants that represent the biomass, are aquatic plants, and starch contents are maximized during the growth of aquatic plants by the defined addition of elemental boron or chemical compounds having boron to nutrient solution.
