PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating leukemia is provided to strengthen α1-adrenaline receptor-mediated signaling and promote the differentiation of leukemia cells to erythroid cells. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating leukemia comprises a compound of the general formula I, therapeutically effective amount of ganglioside 3 (GD3) synthase or GD3 synthase gene, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The general formula I is S-S-(MS)p-(MS)q-O-X . In the general formula I, S is sialic acid.
