PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent display device improved in aperture ratio, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent display device includes a display panel provided with a plurality of scanning lines, a plurality of data lines crossing the scanning lines and a plurality of pixel circuits formed in a matrix shape by the scanning lines and the data lines. The pixel circuit 40 includes an organic EL element including first and second pixel electrode layers 42 and an organic light emitting layer formed between the first and second pixel electrode layers 42 for displaying images corresponding to a current flowing between the first and second pixel electrode layers 42, and a driver 80 for controlling the current flowing between the first and second pixel electrode layers 42 corresponding to image signals impressed to the plurality of data lines in response to selection signals from the scanning lines S1 and S2, and the first pixel electrode layer 42 of the organic EL element is formed so as to overlap with a power supply line 50 for supplying power to the driver 80 across a first insulating layer.
