The stopper for a container, especially a bottle or tube, consists of a housing (1) with a spout (2), a shut-off element (3), and an axially movable cylinder (7) with a sealing element (21) to either close off the spout or to open it. An additional sealing element (6) is installed in the housing inlet (1) and lies on the outer side of the cylinder with sealing action. An opening and closing mechanism is formed in the outer wall of the housing, and a retaining spring is formed on the shut-off element.
