Process for the preparation of bisphenols

In the production of bisphenols from (optionally substituted) phenols and ketones or diols in presence of HCl and a volatile compound with an SH bond, a mixture of reaction product and starting materials is transferred from the reactor into a distillation apparatus where the catalyst and water of reaction are separated off from the product.
