PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent liquid crystal and an aligned layer from being degraded by ultraviolet rays generated from plasma discharge. SOLUTION: This plasma address liquid crystal display device has a flat panel structure where a liquid crystal cell 1 provided with a signal electrode 10 like a column and a plasma cell 2 provided with a discharge channel 5 like a row are joined to each other with an intermediate thin glass plate 3 between them. The thin glass plate 3 is provided with an ultrasonic transmission preventing film 6 having a function which absorbs or reflects ultrasonic rays generated from the discharge channel 5 on the plasma cell 2 side to prevent them from being made incident on the liquid crystal cell 1 side.
