The device consists of fixing straps (3), which are fixed to the chassis of the vehicle and to the fuel tank. Each strap is provided with a cut-out hole, in the form of an oblong buttonhole (11). The tank is provided with a series of fixing buttons (8) to correspond with the buttonholes. The fixing button has a securing head (9), with the same oblong shape as the button hole, but the width and length are correspondingly smaller and larger than the width of the buttonhole. The securing strap is fixed to the fuel tank by means of the head of the fixing button, which extends perpendicularly to the axis of the buttonhole. After the button has been passed through the buttonhole, the strap is rotated through 90 degrees, to align the strap parallel to the axis of the buttonhole.
