PURPOSE:To obtain the compatibility with an existing VTR while suppressing a compression ratio by recording one of left eye and right eye signals onto a valid line of a magnetic tape as a main signal, and applying time axis compression to a difference signal and recording the compressed signal to other area. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic tape 1 is provided with an audio track 2 for recording an audio signal, a control track 3 for recording a control signal, and a signal line 4 for recording a video signal, and the signal line 4 is made up of difference signal areas 41, 42 recording a synchronizing signal, a difference signal of left eye and right eye video signals at an upper and a lower end of lines set in the order of an odd number field and an even number field obliquely and with a main signal area 43 resident between the areas to record the left eye or right eye video signal being a main signal. Either of the right eye or the left eye video signal is recorded to a portion displayed on a screen of a television receiver among signal lines of a recording medium as a main signal and a difference signal for left/right eye signals is recorded to a remaining signal lines not usually displayed on the screen. |
