1310567 Locks ASSOCIATED AUTOMATION Ltd 3 Sept 1971 [4 Sept 1970] 42465/70 Heading E2A [Also in Division G4] In a coin-box telephone an outer casing 1 of the apparatus is slidable vertically on a back plate 7 and is normally locked in the fully closed position by means of a sliding bar 38 that is mounted on the back plate and engages cut-outs 20a in side portions 20 of the casing, and by lever 43 and latch 44 mounted on a top closure member 2 which respectively engage latch 42 and projection 45 on the casing. To free the casing for movement a cylinder lock (73) (Fig. 8, not shown) in housing 37 fixed to the back plate is rotated, pivoting bell crank 39 and sliding bar 38 to align a notch (65) in one end of the bar with one side portion 20 of the casing whilst removing the other end of the bar from the cut-out in the other side portion (Fig. 6, not shown). The movement of bar 38 is transmitted through bell crank 40 and rod 41 to pivoted latch 42 and via link 43a to latch 44. A cash container 53 is located in a safe 10 by means of breech blocks 56 on the container and breech housings 57 in the inner wall of the safe, and is locked in position by means of a cylinder lock in housing 36. In a second embodiment (Figs. 10 to 14, not shown) the casing 1 is locked to the back plate 7 and top closure 2 by four bolts (121) which may be retracted by operation of a cylinder lock (130) acting through crank wheel (128) and links (127) on pivoted bolt retaining blades (122). The cash container (81) is retained in safe (82) by sliding plate (101) normally locked closed by a locking plate (102) controlled by cylinder lock (111). |
