The invention relates to a folding seat (1) comprising two contiguous rigid reinforcements (2, 3) that are hinged to one another at two sides (21, 31) - referred to as bottom sides - about an axis (Χ-Χ') parallel to said sides (21, 31). Said two reinforcements (2, 3) are interconnected by a fabric strip (4) attached to a reinforcement (2, 3). According to the invention, at least one of said rigid reinforcements (2 or 3) is open U-shaped (21-20 or 31-30) the transverse arm (21, 31) of which is made up of the bottom side thereof (21, 31), while the lateral arms (20, 30) thereof are made up of the lateral sides (20, 30) thereof. The transverse edge (40, 41) of the fabric strip (4) which is attached to the reinforcement (2, 3) is directly - and permanently - attached by the end areas (6) thereof on the free end portions (200, 300) of the vertical members (20, 30), such that the outer side (22, 32) of the reinforcement (2 or 3) is intangible and devoid of any rigid elements at the transverse edge (40, 41) of the fabric strip (4). An empty space (ESv) is provided between the free ends (200, 300) of the vertical members (20, 30) of the reinforcement (2 or 3), and, at the location of said empty space (EsV), the fabric strip (4) is connected only to the end (200, 300) of one vertical member (20, 30), a flexible area (Zs) of the fabric strip (4) extending freely between the ends (200, 300) of the two vertical members (20, 30).
