PURPOSE:To produce aq. perhalogenic acid by electrodialysis using a fluororesin- based ion-exchange membrane. CONSTITUTION:An anode 3 is placed on one end of an electrolytic cell and a cathode 10 on the other end, and a fluororesin-based anion-exchange membrane 4 is provided on the anode side and a fluororesin-based cation-exchange membrane 7 on the cathode side to divide the electrolytic cell. Dil. aq. perhalogenic acid is filled into the anode chamber 1, aq. alkali metal perhalogenate into the intermediate chamber 5 and aq. alkali metal salt into the cathode chamber 8. A lead dioxide electrode or a platinum electrode is used as the anode 3, thus concd. aq. perhalogenic acid is produced in the anode chamber by the electrodialysis. High-purity perhalogenic acid free of impurities such as halogen acid, alkali metals, sulfuric acid and nitric acid is safely produced in this way. |
