METHOD FOR PRODUCING ORGANIC ONIUM FLUORIDE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING ORGANIC ONIUM TETRAFLUOROALUMINATE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic onium fluoride and a method for industrially producing an organic onium tetrafluoroaluminate useful as various kinds of chemicals including an electrolyte of electrochemical elements such as a cell or a battery or an electrolytic capacitor in high yield. SOLUTION: The organic onium fluoride (e.g. 1-ethyl-2,3- dimethylimidazolinium methylcarbonate) has≤0.2 mol% amount of an inorganic cation based on the amount of the organic onium. The method for producing the organic onium tetrafluoroaluminate (e.g. 1-ethyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolinium tetrafluoroaluminate) comprises reacting the organic onium fluoride with aluminum trifluoride (e.g. aluminum trifluoride trihydrate).
