PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance workability while ensuring safety in repairing work of a railway vehicle. SOLUTION: The protection device 1 for railway vehicle repairing includes: first and second protection members 7, 8 slidably joined to each other; a hanging/retaining mechanism 5 for hanging/retaining the first and second protection members 7, 8 at a position for closing a door port 3a of the railway vehicle 3 when they relatively slide to each other and are enlarged in a lifting direction (arrow of Z1-Z2 direction); a lifting mechanism 9 for relatively sliding the second protection member 8 relative to the first protection member 7 hung/retained by the hanging/retaining mechanism 5; and a tilt mechanism 10 for rotating the first and second protection members 7, 8 with the lifting mechanism 9 in a tilt direction (arrow of S1-S2 direction) making a portion 5a to be hung/retained by the hanging/retaining mechanism 5 as fulcrum.
