<p>Method and system for providing information in a multilingual environment, including receiving a request for information including a character string from a user and selecting based on a user language parameter an index module in a particular language. The request is transmitted to the selected index module and a list of synonyms of the character string received from the user is returned. Based on the list of synonyms a selection index is generated and may be presented to the user.
