PURPOSE:To obtain a composition having excellent bactericidal activity and stability, storable over a long period without causing degradation of the quality and effective in sterilizing a toilet stool seat, etc., by using a concentrated alcohol and/or polyol, povidone iodine and water as active components and specifying the amounts of the components. CONSTITUTION:The objective bactericide composition contains one or more 1-3C alcohols (preferably ethanol) and/or polyol, water and povidone iodine. The content of the alcohol and/or polyol is >=80wt.%, that of water is <=20wt.% and that of provided iodine is 0.0005-0.5wt.%. The povidone iodine is e.g., PVP-10 DINE 30/60 (product of BASF). The stability of iodine in the title composition can be improved by compounding 0.01-10wt.% of an organic acid such as citric acid or tartaric acid based on the whole composition. |
