PURPOSE:To perform a reliable measurement of viscosity, by a method wherein, in order to measure a time during which a sample-extruding piston moves for a given distance, a light intercepting shutter, operating in a synchronizing manner via a lever, and a moving collecting element are mounted to regulate an intercepting distance. CONSTITUTION:If a sample-extruding piston 1 extrudes a sample and is lowered, a lever 2 turns centering around an axel 3, and a stopper 4 mates with a lever 5. Then, the lever 2 and lever 5 are monolithically united to work as a lever centering around a shaft 3 acting as a fulcrum, and a shutter 6 is pushed upward togetherwith the lever 5 and reaches a front surface of a collecting element 7 to intercept light. If the piston 7 is further lowered, the shutter stops intercepting the collecting element 7, and the time is measured to measure the viscosity of a sample. The collecting element 7 can move along a rail 11 by a feed screw to permit the regulation of the light-intercepting distance of the shutter 6. This facilitates the adjustment of a piston and produces a melt indexer which is less influenced by vibration. |
