1492326 Tyre chains H O DOHMEIER 20 Aug 1975 [21 Aug 1974 31 Oct 1974] 34528/75 Heading B7C [Also in Division D1] A chain, Fig. 6, for use in protecting a tyre is made by a method comprising:forminglengths of carbon steel rod into generally loop-shaped connectors 28 such that the two ends of each connector overlap one another; interconnecting a plurality of links 34 by means of the connectors 28; and welding the two overlapping ends of each connector together along adjacent surfaces thereof. The welding employed may be gas welding or electric-arc welding. The connectors 28 may be heat treated to remove internal stresses before being assembled into the chain. In the chain illustrated in Fig. 6, four links 34 are connected with each connector 28. In a modification of the chain of Fig. 6, only three links are connected with each connector. The connector 28 of Fig. 5 has overlapping ends 32 extending radially away from the central opening of the loop 30. In the alternative connector of Fig. 4, an end 24 of the connector projects into a recess 23 provided by the other end 22 of the connector. The links of the chain may be in the form of loops or may comprise perforated plates. |
