PURPOSE:To polish the edge surface of a thermal transformation element into a certain dimension and form by supplying heating fluid from the vicinity of the point for starting the crossing between a pair of polishing grindstones and a carrier disc and once extending the thermal transformation element by the heating over the transformation temperature and then polishing the edge surfaces. CONSTITUTION:Though the thermal transformation element S held in each spring holding hole 3 on the outer peripheral part of a carrier disc 2 is fed into the interval between a pair of polishing grindstones 1A and 1B through the revolution of the carrier disc 2, said transformation element is fed in the extension state by the heating at the temperature over the transformation temperature by the heating fluid supplied from a feeding port 4 immediately before the pair of grindstones 1A and 1B, and therefore, the elastic modulus of the transformation element S is increased 4-5 times, and said element is provided with a rigidity on polishing. Therefore, a pair of polishing grindstones 1A and 1B are not collapsed or bent even if pressed from the both sides, and the edge surfaces on the both outer surfaces are polished in parallel. |
