PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reciprocating internal combustion engine with reduced sliding frictional force of a piston with respect to a cylinder bore. SOLUTION: The reciprocating internal combustion engine 1 in which the piston reciprocates, has sliding friction reducing means 15, 16 disposed near both of/one of a top dead center and/or a bottom dead center to reduce the sliding friction of the piston 10 with respect to the cylinder bore 9.
